â€Å"The evacuation of children in World War Two was a great success.† How far do the sources you have used support this interpretation of evacuation in World War Two? (25 marks) Before the War in September 1939, the government understood the risk of air raids and the danger they bring upon major cities in England. Plans for evacuation started as early as 15 years before in 1924; the Air Raid Precaution Committee (ARPC) identified London as the main target, with children as the biggest concern. The government identified, after the ARPC produced a report on the potential disasters of air raid attacks in 1925, that maintaining civilian morale was a priority, and that the fear of bombing would bring it down. So, to prevent low morale (and also†¦show more content†¦To further justify evacuation and therefore show its success in keeping evacuees safe, source six shows casualties in Liverpool. It shows that the death rate was generally over 100 and even in May 1941, at 1453. Again, this justifies the need to evacuate and the safety achieved through evacuation. Finally, sources three shows the success in evacuation as the sources show effectiveness and good organisation as a success of evacuation. This encompasses overall efficiency and pre-evacuation planning. To be able to transport the huge amount of 1million (intended 4million) to the countryside required this efficiency and overall, sources three and source two mention the efficiency and order of the transport (trains) and organisation in the countryside. In source three, a newspaper article from Kent, says that the departures were efficient, reflecting that it was seen to that ‘each child got milk and food’, and followed up with ‘no confusion’. Even source two, though showing evacuation in a negative way, also comments that the trains ‘ran to time’ and that evacuation came ‘complete with teachers’. Having teachers is shown in sources one, three and four as well. In source one, it is shown as a teacher with a group of children, in thr ee there are mentioned ‘teachers in charge’ and in four, the graph shows about 103,000 teachers were evacuated. The fact that they were able to organise having teachers for the children,Show MoreRelatedThe Effect of World War II on the Lives of People at Home Essay5431 Words   |  22 PagesEffect of World War II on the Lives of People at Home World war two was officially started with the invasion of Poland, September 1939 where the British being an ally of Poland and disagreeing with Hitler’s actions, declared war against Germany. My Relationship With Family Reunions Essay - 1714 Words

I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with very few sets of family members that lived close enough to visit. However, I was aware that my family was sizable and I had the opportunity to see a handful of them when we would visit Buff Bay, Jamaica for family reunions. Hundreds of us would gather from all over the world to enjoy each other’s company for the time we could spend together. My family attended these reunions every two years until I was in fourth grade. As my mom transitioned to a new job, it was clear we did not have the finances to attend again. I appreciate those family reunions now more than ever, as I know they gave me a respect for community and relationships. It is interesting how my family could spend two years away from each other, but one event could bring them together and they were able to pick back up right where they left off. My absence from the reunions caused me to give a greater priority to my relationship with my cousins who lived nearby, and I cherished our relationship because it seemed more permanent. I was recently reminded how temporary it could be as my cousin was diagnosed with cancer during my sophomore year of college, but thankfully he is in remission and we hope that he will remain in good health. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to provide medical care to Buff Bay, Jamaica during my collegiate years, and I could not be more grateful. It is important for investors along with the financial managers to know the changes in the stock and its related information. It is concerned about the basic issues which is related to the finance that the reasons for changes in the price in the security market. It is also referred to the random walk theory (Mackinley, 2005). Investors tried to recognize the securities which are undervalued and assumes that the prices of these securities will rise in the future and specifically the value of that stock which has the chances to rise as compared to others. Many investors think that their performance will be excellent and affects the market and break the records and create the new records in the market. But for this achievement they have to analyze the market and do the forecast and the methods of valuation for the decision of investment. The efficient market hypothesis recommends that the profit earn from the stock movements is not easy. The price changes or fluctuates because of the information which is just arrived in the market. If the adjustments of the prices are made so fast without having any biased information, then it is called as efficient market, and that leads to the securities in which its current price disclose the availability of the information at the certain period. For the fall or rise in prices of the stock have no other reasons except this (NPRA, 2011). Role of the pension fund manager The pension fund manager does the investment in the funds and the assets as per the provisions of the National Pension Act, 2008. The fund manager diversified the funds in different securities in order to maximize risk and acquired the best returns as per the investments. The maintenance of the books of accounts on the transactions has done by the pension fund manager. The efficient market hypothesis is not implied about the selection of that portfolio which is done along with the pin because the manager has to sure about the diversification of the portfolio. It has to notice that the various stocks and its diversification may not be from the same industries. It must be taken care about the risk associated with the securities is suitable for the customers but in the case of the pension fund, the decision for the investments must be less risky (Betson, 2000).
